Recovery Day BC in New Westminster, BC, provided a unique opportunity to combine my passion for photography with an event that promotes healing and celebrates recovery. The festival boasted a diverse lineup of talented musicians, ensuring a day filled with captivating performances and cherished memories. From the energetic beats of Bungalow to the soul-stirring vocals of Amber Tsang, the festival showcased an array of musical genres that resonated with the audience.
The festival kicked off with the infectious sounds of Eagle Eyes, an Eagles cover band that set the tone for a day of musical delight. Penny Pom Pom, a favorite among children, drew an enthusiastic crowd, including my own family members who were thrilled to see her perform. From joining Fred Penner on stage to spreading joy during his set, Penny Pom Pom brought smiles to both young and old alike.
Bungalow mesmerized the crowd with their funky and groove-filled melodies, causing heads to bob uncontrollably to the infectious beats. Busty And The Bass delivered an unforgettable performance, leaving a lasting impression with their incredible talent and captivating stage presence. Their music was a perfect addition to my car rides, promising many future listens.
Will Clements and Amber Tsang, both gracing the second stage, showcased their remarkable vocals and shared a common guitarist with the previous bands. Their talent and versatility were truly impressive, leaving me captivated by their performances. Fred Penner, a beloved childhood favorite for many, charmed the audience with his nostalgic and heartfelt songs, evoking cherished memories and bringing smiles to faces young and old.
Snotty Nose Rez Kids brought a high-energy and vibrant performance that stood out from the rest of the schedule. Their unique vibe infused the festival with a fresh and dynamic energy, captivating the crowd and creating an electric atmosphere. Tess Anderson, an exceptional vocalist, delivered mesmerizing vocals, complemented by the fashionable and skilled guitarist accompanying her.
Will's Jams, a fantastic children's performer, brought boundless energy and infectious smiles to the audience. Despite their tiredness after a day of music and playtime, my kids enjoyed every moment of his engaging performance. Tom Cochrane, known for his iconic songs, reminded me of the nostalgia and fun associated with his music, including the ever-popular "Life Is A Highway."
Sugar Fungus, a band with an intriguing name, closed the festival with an extraordinary performance. Their music captured the imagination and left a lasting impression, concluding the day on a high note.
